The Laboratory of Ruminant Nutrition (LRN) of Zhejiang University belongs to discipline of Animal Nutrition and Feed Science (Key Discipline of MOA in 2000, National Key Discipline in 2007). It plays an important role in the National Engineering Laboratory for Feed Safety and Pollution Control, the MoE Key Laboratory of Molecular Animal Nutrition, and the MoA Key Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed Science. The LRN is a part of the Zhejiang Provinces Key Laboratories of Feed and Animal Nutrition, as well as Innovation and Service Platform for R & D in Feed Industry in Zhejiang province.

There are three professors, two associate professors, one assistant professor, three post-doctoral researchers, one technician and two research assistants in the LRN. Currently we have 17 Ph.D candidates and 36 Master students.

Research interests in the LRN include lactation biology and dairy nutrition, rumen microbiology metagenomics, rumen physiology and fermentation manipulation, efficient utilization of feed resources, reduction of nitrogen and phosphorus release to the environment, etc. Research funding sources include the MoST, National Natural Science Foundation of China, MoE, MoA, IAEA, Provincial Department of S & T and industry.
